Introducing Ministério Social Beija-Flor

In July of this year my family will be making a trip to Brazil. During my two weeks there I'm planning to speak to the church in Uberlândia about the mission of God as well as the work of HOPE worldwide. I won't be stepping into a void, by any means.

Marcelo, my brother-in-law and lead evangelist of the church there, is deeply devoted to the work of Christ's reign. He understands that it extends not only to doctrinal beliefs but really touches and transforms every aspect of our lives. This is what he teaches and lives.

Further, the church in Uberlândia has had a social outreach in times past. It was called "Ministério Social Beija-Flor" (Hummingbird Social Ministry) For various reasons it's been inactive since 2009, but there is a push now among the disciples to get it going again.

I'll be glad to bring Biblical teaching in support of this aspect of God's mission, as well encouragement and a specific project we can carry out during my brief time visiting. My hope is that the social ministry can be revived, extended and that it can eventually partner with HOPE worldwide - Brasil.

The slideshow below contains pictures of three efforts the social ministry carried out a few years ago. I'm very excited at the prospect of working with them this year, and am hopeful that I'll be able to join in fully once my family relocates to Brazil.
