Let there be no illusions here. There are people with addictions and mental health issues in the camp. There are people who have made poor choices in life. Poverty does not make a person especially virtuous by default. Yet, these are still people. I saw young and old. There were pregnant women. I was able to identify one family with a daughter under 3 years of age.
Here are just a few pictures I took that day. There's an abundance of videos and photos of the Tent City online, if you just search for it.
There's much more winterizing and cleanup work to be done, and of course there's an ongoing need for basic supplies like water and seasoned firewood (reduced smoke).
